Problem 1
In class I will give each student a paper from the 2002 Sigmetrics conference.
Read the paper and determine the main results and the methods used. Write a short paragraph, like an abstract, describing what was done and the main results. Use your own words, do not use the abstract from the paper. You do not have to understand the details of the paper, but you need to know what methods were used.
Write another paragraph or two indicating the main methods used in the paper for the performance analysis. Make sure you indicate whether it was a simulation, a measurement, or a model (or some combination). Were there any methods used that you don't understand?
You will be asked to give a short (10 minute) presentation on this paper at a later time. Keep a copy of what you hand in to me.

Don't just use the answer in the back of the book.
Also, what is the probability that a student will have to wait?
